Foods That Stain Your Teeth

Did you know that tea can stain your teeth even more than coffee? Many other foods can cause tooth staining, including deeply colored sauces like tomato and curry, highly-acidic sports and energy drinks, red wine, cola, dark berries, artificially colored candy and many others.

At Montgomery Park Dental Care we recommend that you rinse your mouth with water after consuming any of these stain causing food, or use a straw to sip sodas and iced tea. Please call us at (855) 737-9558 if you have any questions about foods and your dental health.

Dental Decay & Sealants

Dr. Quinn will tell you that regular brushing and flossing lowers the chance of your children developing cavities. However, sometimes good habits alone aren't enough. The most decay-prone areas of teeth are the grooves and depressions on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. These vulnerable areas require further preventive care. To protect kids' teeth from decay, a plastic-like coating called a sealant should be painted on the chewing surfaces of all the back teeth.

It's a simple process that's extremely effective: studies have shown that sealants can reduce tooth decay by as much as 90% to 100%. Please call Montgomery Park Dental Care at (855) 737-9558 with any questions you may have about the benefits of using a sealant in preventing dental decay.

Diet and Dental Health

Diets low in certain nutrients can reduce resistance to oral and dental infections including gum disease and tooth decay. A healthy immune system is essential to controlling periodontal disease. Counseling in the Four Basic Food groups will improve dental health and general health.

The consumption of sugar, especially in sticky forms or in a baby bottle while sleeping, contributes to the rapid development of dental decay. Dr. Quinn believes that a balanced diet, effective brushing and sensible eating habits can reduce the risk of, or even prevent, infectious dental disease. If you need more information on how a healthy diet can improve your dental health, please don't hesitate to call Montgomery Park Dental Care at (855) 737-9558.
